Frequently Asked Questions
How long do sessions go for?
The duration of all consultations is 50-minutes. Time is required at the end of each session to prepare for the next client. If you arrive late, the consultation will still end at the scheduled time to ensure other clients receive their allotted time allowance.
How often should I have sessions?
The frequency is something we can chat about together in your sessions. There's no expectation to attend weekly as I understand that budgeting and scheduling are factors to consider.
Are in-person or online sessions better?
Studies show that online therapy is equally as effective as that delivered in-person. 70%-80% of my sessions are conducted online and in my experience I've found most clients prefer online than in-person. This is due to being more comfortable in their own environment, the convenience of attending sessions and having access to digital resources mid session. I've observed no difference in outcomes between in-person vs online sessions.
Do I need a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP?
You do not need an MHCP approved by a GP prior to counselling with Calming Minds. If you already have a MHCP, that's great, send it through and I can use this information to assist with your treatment plan.
What if I need to cancel?
If for any reason you will be unable to attend your session, we request that you contact us (via phone, text or email) to reschedule at least 24 hours in advance. This gives other clients the opportunity to make use of that vacant spot. A cancellation fee will apply if cancelled within 24 hours of appointment time. Note you can also reschedule your own session using the Calendly link in your booking confirmation email.
